Commentary Open Forum - Winchester Star- School Cuts?

Upon completion of the Frederick County budget, Dr. Sovine, Superintendent of Schools, sent a letter to school employees and parents indicating that more than $6 million was cut from the proposed school budget. What he did not mention was that the overall funding had increased $7.5 million from the prior year. Thus, I sent a letter to the school administration requesting that the additional facts be presented to the same recipients. Unfortunately, the school administration did not provide employees and parents the additional information. Therefore, I wrote the Open Forum in the Winchester Star on June 13, 2019 page A4.
